Privacy Policy

Overview

FavoritesHQ ("we", "us") is a service that lets you record your favorite things, build gift profiles to share with friends and family, and play a daily quiz with a partner. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights over that data.

Information we collect

Account information

Email address — used to authenticate you and contact you about your account.
Name — shown to your partner and on gift profiles you create.
Date of birth — optional; used to confirm you are at least 13 and for occasional birthday-related features.
City, state, country — optional; helps surface locally relevant content.
Profile photo — optional; shown to your partner.

Content you create

Favorites — the items you mark as favorites, plus any notes or commentary you write.
Gift profiles — recipient name, occasion, items, and share status.
Daily-quiz answers and guesses — your responses, your partner's responses, and the resulting score.
Partner connections — the relationship between you and any user you have invited or accepted.

Device and usage information

Push notification token — issued by Apple Push Notification Service; used solely to deliver notifications you opt into.
App version and platform version — sent on every API request so we can support older versions and decide when to require updates.
IP address and request logs — standard server logs used for security and debugging; retained for up to 30 days.

Sign in with Apple

If you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable, anonymous user identifier and (on first sign-in only) the name and email address you choose to share. We do not receive your real Apple ID. If you use Apple's Hide My Email feature, we only receive the relay address.

How we use your information

To operate the core features of the app: favorites, gift profiles, the daily quiz, and partner connections.
To send transactional email and push notifications you opt into.
To prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve the product.
To enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for cross-app advertising or third-party marketing.

How information is shared

With your partner — the user you have a connection with sees your name, profile photo, and the quiz answers you submit.
On a gift profile share link — anyone who has the URL can see the recipient name and the items on that list. Share links are unguessable but not protected by login. You can delete a profile at any time to revoke access.
With service providers — Expo (push notification delivery), SendGrid (transactional email), Amazon Web Services (file storage). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments.
If required by law — we will respond to valid legal process (subpoenas, court orders) where compelled.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your favorites, gift profiles, partner connections, daily-quiz history, push tokens, and account record. Server logs and email backups may persist for up to 30 days after deletion.

Your rights

Access and correction — view and edit your profile inside the app.
Deletion — Settings → Delete Account. The deletion is immediate and permanent.
Export — email privacy@favoriteshq.com and we will provide a machine-readable copy of your account data within 30 days.
Withdrawal of consent — disable push notifications in iOS Settings. Stop using the app at any time.

Children

FavoritesHQ is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@favoriteshq.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email and shown in-app. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
